Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School
Rooted in Jewish values, we ignite a love of learning, and prepare each student to transform the world. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to ensure that we are providing Mandel JDS students with an educational foundation that is in rich and rigorous and infused with a deep sense of global responsibility – one that sends them out into the world eager to make a meaningful impact. We believe in providing an education that is dynamic and progressive, grounded in the latest educational research – one that focuses on problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration. As Cleveland’s only community day school, we are proud to be a community that is vibrant, diverse and inclusive – one that is built on honoring the sacredness of the individual. At Mandel JDS, we believe that building character is just as important as curriculum - which is why our students and graduates are leaders in our local community and beyond.
Laura Simon, Director of Admissions
Founded in 1969, Mandel JDS is a private coeducational school for 18 months through 8th grade that brings together a student community of over 360 students from various backgrounds and levels of observance. As Cleveland’s only Jewish day school accredited for educational excellence by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), Mandel JDS also exceeds Ohio’s state education standards for all core curricular subjects. In addition to individualized learning and small classes led by award-winning teachers, Mandel JDS features Integrated Project Based Learning, an 8th grade culminating class trip to Israel, robust after-school enrichment, and a competitive athletics program.
