JFSA Ascentia's Supported Employment Program that is funded by the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Cuyahoga County. Supported Employment is a well defined approach to helping people with mental illness find and keep competitive employment within their communities.
Traditional Vocational Rehabilitation Services helps people with all types of significant disabilities prepare for employment consistent with their interests and abilities. These services also help people maintain their current employment, if their disability is threatening continued employment.
JFSA Ascentia's Social and Recreational Program is a holistic approach to mental illness is taken by focusing on not only healing the body's mind but physical body too as a means to promote recovery. The program takes place throughout the community and includes a partnership with the Mandel Jewish Community Center. Participants play in team sports, lift weights and participate in aerobic exercises at the Mandel JCC.
Art therapy, daily community outings and volunteer opportunities are all part of JFSA's Ascentia Day Support Program. Adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities can take part in individual or group activities that are designed to stimulate both the mind and body, promoting health and wellness.
