Our clients are children who are Jewish and between the ages of 6 and 18. Many come from single-parent households; have unresolved issues resulting from the loss of a parent; or have withdrawn into themselves, exhibiting depression or reluctance to emotionally invest in relationships. Immigrant children faced with the challenges of acculturation often find themselves feeling isolated and detached and struggling to succeed in school.
We match Jewish children ages 6-18 with Bigs 21 years of age or older. To be a Big, you may have no more than 4 points on your driver's license, have no criminal record, and must commit to a minimum of a year's match. All Bigs undergo a thorough screening process including a fingerprinting, background check, and driver's license check. Although we provide mentoring to Jewish children and their families, our Big Brothers and Sisters do not need to be of the Jewish faith.
Big and Little matches enjoy two monthly outings together, as well as seasonal group outings arranged by the agency. All matches are supported by an LISW level case manager on a monthly basis.
We are in need of volunteers who are at least 21 years of age who can serve as a positive mentor/role model in a child's life.
Program is free for participants.
