In 2003, after more than a century of commitment to the Jewish and general communities, Mt. Sinai Community partners secured its legacy through the establishment of the Mt. Sinai Center for Jewish Genetic diseases, a program of the Center for Human Genetics at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
The Center is a resource for increasing awareness about Jewish genetic diseases.
The aims of the Center are threefold:
- Increase knowledge about diseases commonly found in the Jewish population
- Establish laboratory testing for these conditions
- Promote research into the field of Jewish genetic diseases
