Organization Information

The Jewish Education Center of Cleveland (JECC)is the educational planning arm of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.  The JECC works across the spectrum of the community through a variety of programs and projects such as:

·       CURRICULUM RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

The Curriculum Resources Department serves the curricular and professional development needs of Cleveland's Jewish educational programs, including congregational, early childhood and day schools. This department also coordinates jKids, a calendar of events in Cleveland for children birth to five and their parents.

 ·       TEACHER CENTER

The Teacher Center is a hands-on gathering place where teachers can find professional guidance and materials for creative classroom planning. Teachers learn from each other, share ideas and work together in an atmosphere of comfort and creativity! Materials may be created in the JECC building or accessed online at http://JECCMarketplace.com

 ·       RATNER MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY CENTER

The Ratner Media & Technology Center (RMC) offers a collection of pedagogic materials and children's literature for the Jewish educational community. It has advanced level accreditation by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL).

     ·       SPECIAL  EDUCATION

The Special Education Department provides services to students in day schools through SEGULA, and in supplementary schools through the ETGAR program, plus in-service training opportunities to special education teachers in the field.

 ·       RETREAT INSTITUTE

The Retreat Institute works in collaboration with Jewish education institutions in the Cleveland community to develop retreats and informal education programs.

     ·       ISRAEL PROGRAMS

The Israel Programs Department offers funding to help students further their informal Jewish education in Israel, at summer camp, and on other special programs such as AIPAC and Szarvas Fellowships.

 ·       TASTE OF JUDAISM

"Taste of Judaism" classes offer a window from which participants can begin the journey of Jewish learning.  An exploration of spirituality, ethics, and community are the components of the dialogue.

 ·       ADOLESCENT INITIATIVE

The Adolescent Initiative is a comprehensive approach to fostering formal and informal education for the teens in our community.

 ·       HEBREW STORYTIME

Hebrew Storytime is a story hour where children ages 2-7 listen to stories in Hebrew and celebrate Jewish holidays with songs and activities. The program, led by an early childhood educator, is held monthly during the school year at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.

 ·       PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Professional Development Department provides opportunities and funding for educators to expand their professional growth.

 ·       TEACHER LICENSING

The JECC provides support services for professional licensure of teachers in JECC-affiliated day schools to meet Ohio Department of Education requirements.

 ·       PLANNING & EVALUATION

This department facilitates the process of planning for the future of Jewish education and engagement in Cleveland by identifying and evaluating successes, needs and gaps in the community's education system

jHUB provides a new way for interfaith couples and families to comfortably explore, discover, and personalize the meaning of Jewish culture and values in the modern world.  jHUB is a joint initiative of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and the JECC and an interfaithfamily affiliate.

Vision Statement: The vision of the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland is to inspire more people to find meaning and value in their lives through Jewish lifelong learning.
